who doesn't know
the Puch Maxi?
founded by Johann
Puch (pictured) a long, long time ago, the company was one of the first bicycle
makers in Europe. After WWi, they expanded into motorcycle, tanks, trucks, agricultural
machinery and so on. After WWII, most of the heavy industry in Austria was in
ruins, so Puch re-started by making small motorcycles and mopeds in the early
'50s.The Maxi is probably the bets known and most successful moped ever produced
- millions are still running and licensed production of the venerable engine
still continues in many parts of the world.

was among the many 'assemblers' of the Maxi

For European markets, more motorcycle-like
models were also produced, like the Monza (4-speed)
